Skin Needling

Rejuvenate your skin the natural way. skin needing treatment

Skin needling is a non invasive procedure that incorporates a process of a roller with microscopic needles between 0.15mm to 1.5mm long depending on which device is used. As the needles are rolled over the skin, tiny punctures are created within the epidermis and dermis that encourages the skin’s own natural response. There are no injections, incisions, stitches or implants made or inserted.

The medical grade, stainless steel needles penetrate, they effectively create microscopic trauma deep within the skins matrix. As the skin reacts, tiny electrical signals are released which create a chain of events or a wound healing response. Essential minerals, proteins and cell generated tissue factors are discharged, not only affecting the electricity of the surrounding cells, but creating a regenerative process for fibroblasts.

Cells are recreated and re-invigorated to replace any damage, Transforming Growth Factor (TGF) is released from broken capillaries, fibroblast cells are proliferated, collagen is regenerated, cell division is increased and nutrient rich blood flow is stimulated.

The needles penetrate within the skin and into the dermis. Skin needling does not destroy the epidermis, it does not cause scabbing or grazing, there is less downtime, not much discomfort and fast outcome.  No post medication is needed and not much home care is required.

Skin needling for correction of

·         Anti ageing/wrinkles

·         Pigmentation/ sun damage

·         Acne/pimples/ blackheads

·         Scarring

·         Enlarged pores

·         Stretch marks

Results

The results from skin needling are

·         Stimulation of collagen

·         Increased cell proliferation

·         Increased cell regeneration

·         Angiogensis (the formation and development of capillaries)

·         Exfoliation

·         Regulated pigmentation

·         Reduce size and appearance of pores

·         Reduce size and appearance of scar tissue

·         Reduce appearance of stretch marks

There are 4 sizes of the skin inject each with a different needle measurement, purpose and modus operandi:

  • The 0.15mm device has been designed for personal use at home. This can be used 2-3 times a week and can be used without anaesthetic cream. Applying Retin A on the skin and then using the needle device is very effective and works the Retin A into the skin.
  • The 0.75mm and 1.5mm devices are utilized by a dermal therapist in a skin clinic only. We would use 0.75mm to treat light to medium wrinkling around the eyes and lips, relatively new hyper and hypo pigmentation, non active acne or breakout areas, enlarged pores, seborrhea and related conditions including blackheads, pimples and acne.
  • The 1.5mm device is used to treat wrinkling on the forehead, cheek, chin, and jaw or for an overall treatment of more pronounced aging medium-deep wrinkling. It is also used to treat pigmentation that has developed over 5 years, stretch marks and collagen induction therapy (CIT).
  • The 2mm device is to be used by medical practitioner only and this is used to treat hypertrophic and atrophic scarring.

Contraindications

As skin inject is cosmedical device designed to deliver long lasting results, there are many factors that must be considered for a at home treatment or in clinic treatment. Contraindications include:

  • Chemical peels
  • Microdermabrasion/dermabrasion
  • IPL (Photorejuvenation)/Laser/Fractional Laser
  • Muscle relaxant Injections/Dermal Filters (incl collagen, hyaluronic acid, restylane, perlane, juvederm, aquamid
  • Facial cosmetic plastic surgery (Until Drs permission)
  • Roaccutane ( 8-12 months)
  • Vitamin A preparations (Stop 4 days before and after treatment)
  • Antibiotics/ Blood thinning medications (this just increases bleeding during treatment)
  • Active Cold sores
  • Pregnancy
  • Avoid using active ingredients 48 hours prior treatment

Post treatment, it is advised to avoid the following activities:

Gym, cardio work, Sauna, hot spa, Swimming pool, Chemical peel, microdermabrasion, IPL/Laser, Dermal filters, Spray tan or self tanning, Cosmetic tattoing, Vitamin A, Alpha Hydroxy Acid AHA, Beta Hydroxy Acid BHA, Benzoyl Perioxide or alcohol based topical skin care

Skin Inject for Acne/Pimples/Blackheads

Diagnosis: Excess sebum production or pores/ follicles become blocked and infected resulting in red pustules. Uninfected blockages of dirt and oil may oxidize on the surface resulting in the appearance of blackheads.

Our Prescription: the skin requires exfoliation to release areas of congestion whilst regulating oil flow and encouraging oxygenation to prevent the proliferation of the Acne Bacteria (Stapheurus)

For use over non active acne or breakout areas we will use a 0.75mm skin inject.

For home use a 0.15mm skin inject is used.

Results:

Exfoliation/ Desquamation: Skin Inject will effectively remove dead skin cells and surface oil/ dirt to prevent pore comedogenicy.

Regulated Sebum Production: Reduces excessive oil flow which can subsequently stretch and unclog pores.

Increased Cell proliferation and regeneration: Skin Inject treatments will create a healthier skin and faster healing response to repair potential scarring and over stretching of the pore, resulting in an enlarged appearance.

Oxygenation: increased oxygen flow aided by puncture channels discourages the anaerobic environment of the acnes bacteria to proliferate.

Increased Topical product absorption: the efficacy of the treatment serums and moisturizers will be increased by 200%.

Home care can be performed 1-2 times a week.

Clinical treatments is 3-6 treatments every 6-8 weeks. Single booster treatments can be every 2-3 months if condition persists or if desired.

For severe cases of acne treatments may be combined such as Blue LED exposure.

Skin Inject For Ageing/Wrinkles

Diagnosis: The breakdown of the skin’s collagen and elastin production in conjunction with decreased moisture content and sebum production result in a skin that is wrinkled, thin, sagging with a loss of tone and smooth even texture. Such factors are exacerbated by sun damage, smoking, pollution, stress and diet.

Our Prescription: the skin requires a rejuvenating treatment that increases its own production of collagen and elastin to provide a stronger and more hydrated foundation to plump out, lift and tone the features.

Light to medium wrinkling around the eyes, lips or thin skin will require treatment with a 0.75mm skin inject.

Wrinkling on the forehead, cheek, chin and jaw area or for an overall treatment of more pronounced ageing like medium to deep wrinkling will require treatment of a 1.5mm skin inject.

Results:

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT): Increased collagen and elastin production to create visibly thicker, firmer and younger acting skin.

Increased cell proliferation and regeneration: Skin inject enables a faster healing and repair response against free radicals and environment aggressors.

Angiogensis: needling aids increased  nutrient blood flow and more effective oxygenation.

Exfoliation: This will give the skin a softer and smoother surface skin texture

Increased topical product absorption: the efficacy of treatment serums and moisturizers will be increased by up to 200%.

Home Care: every 2-3 days

In Clinic Treatment: 3-6 treatments performed every 6-8 weeks (allowing new collagen fibres time to mature).

A course of treatment is recommended to ensure that the Type 1 collgen and elastin fibres produced, develop into the more pliable and stable type 3.

Skin Inject For Enlarged Pores/Seborrhoea

Diagnosis: Almost exclusively a condition of oily to very oily skin, excessive sebum is produced resulting in a persistently shiny skin and enlarged pores

Our Prescription: sebum production needs to be regulated to prevent future pore stretching. Existing enlarged pores need to be refined for a smoother, tighter appearance.

For use of enlarged pores, seborrhoea and related conditions such as black heads, pimples and acne, we will be using a 0.75mm Skin Inject.

For Home Use a 0.15mm is suitable for all over the face.

Results:

Regulated Sebum production, skin inject will reduce excessive oil flow which can subsequently stretch and clog pores.

Exfoliation/Desquamation: skin inject will smooth pore surface for a more refined appearance whilst discouraging the formation of blackheads.

Increased cell proliferation and regeneration: This will create a healthier skin and faster healing response to repair potential scarring and over stretching of the pore, resulting in an enlarged appearance.

Angiogensis: This will create increased oxygen and nutrient rich blood flow and aid in healing and also discourage anaerobic environment of acne bacteria.

Increase topical product absorption: the efficacy of home care products will be increased by 200%.

Home care can be performed every 2-3 days. In clinic treatments will require 3-6 treatments (depending on the severity of the condition) and performed every 6-8 weeks.

A tip:

Avoid the use of alkaline, high foaming cleansers or alcohol based toners. Stripping the skin will only encourage the skin to increase its production. Daily Topical use of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) and vitamin A will further regulate sebum production and smooth the pore surface.

The skin increases oil production in summer and warmer climates, so drink plenty of water and keep hydrated.
